On August 28, 2024, the "2024 Belt and Road Regional Cooperation Forum" was held in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Representatives of 191 Chinese and foreign media from 76 countries reached broad consensus on the theme of the forum "Deepening Media Cooperation and Promoting Common Development", and released the Chengdu Initiative on "Belt and Road" Media Cooperation.

It is advocated to further play the role of cultural exchanges and mutual learning through media cooperation. And we jointly build the next golden decade of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On August 28, the 2024 Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum opened in Chengdu. Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan Province and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Tuo Zhen, President of the People's Daily, Sarmand Ali, President of the Pakistan Fighting Media Group, and David Benchik, Executive editor of the Hungarian Democracy Media Group, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Sichuan Province, Yu Shaoliang, Editor-in-Chief of People's Daily and Tian Xiangli, Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Political Consultative Conference attended the meeting.
